How to Search the Family Resource Database

Basic Search
Type any word or phrase in the Basic Search and click "Search." The Search function will look for that word or any part of the phrase in every field of the database. (e.g., the search for special education will return records containing either special or education.)

To search for a specific phrase, enclose the phrase in quotes. (e.g., the search for "special education" will return only those records containing the phrase special education).

Additionally, it may be helpful to know that the database will search for "strings" of letters or words. (e.g., type "adv" to return records containing the word advocacy, advocate, advocates, etc. or "aut" to return "autism" and "autistic".)

Advanced Search
The Advanced Search may be more helpful for narrowing your search.
1. Choose a category for your search. (Currently the database is divided into 28 topics. Many agencies will appear in multiple categories.)
2. (Optional) Narrow your search further by choosing agencies serving families Nationally, Statewide or in Specific Regions in Massachusetts.
3. (Optional) You can also narrow your search further by selecting agencies serving a specific age range.
4. (Optional) After choosing a Category, you may also type in specific words or phrases to narrow the search.
5. Click on "Search" to begin searching for your advanced criteria.
