Brockton Community Coordinator – FCSN

Part-Time Position (20 hours)

Our Mission:  The Federation for Children with Special Needs provides information, support, and assistance to all families, especially those with children with disabilities, their professional partners, and their communities.  We are committed to listening to and learning from families, as well as, encouraging full participation in community life by all people, especially those with disabilities.

Job Summary:

This is a one year position (with the possibility of extension) to coordinate family engagement activities in Brockton, MA.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Bring together Brockton families and providers from education, health, and human services for relationship building, shared learning, and co-planning.
  • Facilitate community of practice for Brockton residents
  • Provide technical assistance to families and providers on reciprocal communication and family engagement.
  • Logistics support for meetings (arranging for translation, interpretation, scheduling, etc.)
  • Work with FCSN team to develop and implement project activities.
  • Collaborate with FCSN and its partners to coordinate training, webinars, technical assistance, related materials and outreach to professionals and families.
  • Maintain accurate and complete data on activities.
  • Work with Federation staff in support of agency activities such as Visions of Community Conference.
  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong connections in Brockton, MA
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to facilitate group interactions.
  • Able to meet designated deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in web based computer skills, including use of email, Microsoft Office, and databases.
  • Driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the state.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual

Please Note:  This position is 20 hours per week or can be combined with the Parent Group Support Specialist position for 40 hrs.
