Development Associate

Part-time position – 20 hours (Benefit eligible position)

Job Summary:

The Development Associate position is responsible for providing professional support and performing administrative duties for the Development Office. This individual will be a vital part of the Development Team also providing support in the areas of fundraising events, data entry, and database management.

 

Essential Job Functions:                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

  • Work closely with the Development Director to support organizational fundraising events which include an annual Gala. This will include securing in-kind donations, coordinating sponsorship mailings, overall management of the Gala silent auction, attending event Committee meetings as needed, working with event volunteers, preparing guest/registration lists, day of event support, and coordination of post-event gift acknowledgments.
  • Responsible for the Stewardship program, ensuring that proper gift acknowledgments are completed for all gifts in a timely fashion.
  • Complete Development mailings including the Annual Appeal and coordinate all post appeal gift acknowledgments.
  • Provide support for annual Conference planning and coordination (including coordination of Conference Exhibitors).
  • Perform data entry of donor gifts into the donor database (currently Bloomerang) and maintain the accuracy of data in the system.
  • Prepare all gift acknowledgments and complete them with accuracy and in a timely manner.
  • Monitor online donations and enter information in the fundraising database.
  • Collaborate with the Communications Coordinator on social media and other Development communications as required.
  • Provide administrative support by answering phones, handling department correspondence, tracking and maintaining Development office supplies, and other general office duties.  Assists with backup coverage for Office Administrator.
  • Meet regularly with supervisor/team and work collaboratively with all staff.  Participates in Federation staff meetings and Visions of Community Conference (VOC).
  • Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Prior experience with the administrative tasks of fundraising and event planning.

Prior experience using fundraising software preferred (Bloomerang or other CRM software).

  • Ability to work on multiple projects, take initiative, adjust quickly to shifting priorities, and exercise good judgment.
  • Proofreading skills, good verbal and written communication skills are required.  Organizational skills and the ability to work independently, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented. Excellent computer skills and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint.  Knowledge of WordPress, social media, and electronic communications is a plus.
  • High energy and passion for the mission of the Federation for Children with Special Needs.
  • Able to work remotely or in the office and a willingness to work some weekday evenings or weekend days, when necessary.
