Outreach Specialist to Vietnamese Families

Job Summary: Position is responsible for building capacity within the Vietnamese communities in Boston, Randolph and Quincy to address disparities experienced by the families with children with special health care needs (CYSHCN) by increasing engagement among families and professionals through a community asset mapping process and creation of relevant resources and trainings. This is a 32-40 hour/week position and is grant funded for two years. Potential for continued funding exists.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conduct a needs assessment with family of children with special health care needs within the Vietnamese communities in Boston, Randolph and Quincy to identify information, training and resource needs.
  • Identify cultural brokers in the targeted communities to lead a community resource mapping process, engage families in the process, identify key community organizations and agencies, and promote two-way reciprocal communication to improve family engagement between families and professionals to develop the resources and trainings needed to support families and CYSHCN.
  • Identify key community organizations and agencies to improve family engagement.
  • Identify priorities and make plans for family engagement initiatives, including technical assistance, training and material development.
  • Conduct a “plan, do, study, act” evaluation cycle for all project Institute a plan to collect, analyze and report qualitative and quantitative data for required reporting.
  • Participate in Federation staff meetings and staff development.
  • Support the Federation Visions of Community Conference.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or relevant experience.
  • Fluency in both English and Vietnamese languages.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of community outreach strategies and training skills.
  • Experience providing information and support for families.
  • Willingness to learn and grow.
  • Ability to travel in targeted communities.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to navigate computer technologies including database, videoconferencing, email and Microsoft Office platforms.
