Statewide Senior Trainer – Parent Training and Information Center

Job Summary:

Responsible for developing, overseeing, and providing training and relevant information to families, youth with disabilities (YWD), and the professionals with whom they work statewide. This position reports to the Project Director, PTIC.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop curricula, plan, facilitate and oversee the Parent Consultant Training Institutes (PCTI)
  • Oversee and support at least one PCTI in a language other than English each
  • Provide orientation, support, training, and supervision to PCTI graduates during their internship, as well as to volunteers and consultants
  • Compile, draft, and distribute updates on state and federal laws and regulations to PCTI graduates as needed
  • Develop curricula and workshops for parents, professionals, and YWD on special education laws, procedures, and related topics and present workshops
  • Perform an annual review of PTI workshops for information, accessibility, and equity; update workshops as needed
  • Develop and implement 2 annual webinars based on grant requirements and training needs
  • Conduct annual Training of Trainers for consultant workshop trainers
  • Write two articles for Newsline annually
  • Participate on the FCSN training team
  • Provide high quality follow-up written materials in response to requests for information.
  • Timely record, compile, and report data required by grants
  • Continue to develop knowledge of topics related to special education and parent engagement through continuing education, workshop attendance, personal contacts, Federation resources, the internet, and other opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with PTIC and other staff on Federation wide projects, including the annual Visions of Community Conference
  • Participate in PTIC and Federation staff meetings and activities
  • Periodically post federal, state, and local updates and articles of interest to PCTI graduates on PCTI Facebook
  • Perform other tasks assigned by Project Director

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, at a minimum, and relevant experience
  • Knowledge of special education laws and procedures
  • Teaching skills and experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to periodically travel in-state
  • Proficient Microsoft Office and computer skills including e-mail, internet, and willingness to learn data entry program, Zoom, Constant Contact and other programs
