Cindy Tervalon is a Training and Support Specialist for the Recruitment, Training, and Support Center (RTSC). She started her career at MIT focusing on K-12 outreach with the Cambridge Public Schools, creating hands-on science experiments for 3rd-5th grade classrooms that align with curriculum standards and offer diverse learners an opportunity to shine. After receiving a M.Ed. from Harvard’s Graduate School of Education, she helped develop a TA and New Faculty training program at MIT to outline learning differences and offer various teaching approaches that are more inclusive. Cindy became interested in special needs education when her son was struggling in elementary school and was later diagnosed with a learning disability. While supporting and raising her children she focused on building a robust and diverse children’s library in her local community that was accessible and welcoming to everyone. In her free time, Cindy enjoys walking her dogs in the woods, taking care of her house plants, and reading.
