Her youngest child was born profoundly deaf, and as a parent, she learned about the many supports and services available for children with reduced hearing in MA. Jennifer investigated the many educational and healthcare systems on behalf of her son, joining Family TIES as a support parent in 2014 and being appointed to the MA Universal Newborn Hearing Advisory Committee as a parent volunteer in 2015. Jennifer is a biomedical engineer with an MS in electrical engineering, having worked in the medical device industry for 15 years in various specialist roles. She is now dedicated to improving the lives of families who have children with reduced hearing. She has transitioned to a career in public health. In this role, she connects families to appropriate resources and educates medical and other professionals on critical aspects of early hearing detection and intervention. She received a LEND (Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities) fellowship from the Shriver Center at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 2020.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jennifer is the Special Projects Coordinator for the MA DPH (Department of Public Health) Universal Newborn Hearing Screening Program.
