Extended School Year (ESY) –The uphill struggle to get summer services continues to frustrate and confound families. A summer without the right support for children with trauma can be particularly damaging. Even when services are offered, the program schools provide is often what the district has and not what the individual child needs. In this session, we’ll talk about ways you can navigate ESY. But, spoiler alert, the road will always be difficult. Jennie H. DunKley has been a special education consultant, advocate, trainer, mentor and presenter for over 20 years. She created and taught “Autism and the Law” for AANE’s Professional Educator Autism Endorsement. In 2012, Jennie designed and coordinated the implementation of a transition program at the Ivy Street School.
