Martha H. Ziegler Award: Richard J. Robison
The Martha H. Ziegler Founder’s Award was established to honor Martha’s visionary leadership in the Parent Movement, and is given to an individual who continues that vision to educate, advocate and inspire. This year’s award will be presented to Richard J. Robison. our Executive Director Emeritus.
During the more than twenty years that Rich led the Federation, he served an essential function in providing information, support and assistance to thousands of families across the state. He has modeled full participation in community life, serving as President of the National Down Syndrome Congress, a board member of the Massachusetts Down Syndrome Congress, and Chairperson of his local School Committee. He has also worked as Director of Community Relations at the Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services and is an instructor in Disability Policy at the UMass Medical School / Shriver Center LEND program. His critical work with state and federal legislature has helped shape and implement policy on behalf of individuals with disabilities and their loved ones.
