Thinking about future housing options is an important part of transition planning and often requires a certain amount of creativity and supports.

How to plan for housing when there are limited options?

1. Connect with a state organization, Massachusetts Families Organizing for Change (MFOFC), that provides supports to families specifically around finding housing through their Housing Connections program. Another great organization for housing information is Autism Housing Pathways.

2. Find housing resources and information on workshops.

3. Explore and sign up for Section 8 housing if a youth would like their own place in 5-10 years since there is a waiting list.

4. Find out about in home supports such as Personal Care Attendant, PCA services, or the Adult Family Care, AFC program, to support independent living skills.
