PCTIs are currently offered in the following online formats: synchronous (live) meetings and asynchronous (presentation recordings and online learning module activities).

Synchronous PCTI Options:

  • Meetings for Spring and Fall Sessions generally occur on the same day each week for 8-weeks (optional 9th day for PCTI internships). Weekly live synchronous meetings usually include 2 – 3 interactive presentations led by FCSN staff, attorneys, experts in the field of special education, representatives from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and the Bureau of Special Education Appeals (BSEA), among others. In addition to class time, participants are expected to complete approximately 1.5 hours per week of additional coursework that will be made available on Canvas, an online learning platform. The virtual coursework will include videos, discussion boards, blogs, and other media that support and complement course material.
  • The Summer 5-Day Intensive Session takes place over one week, Monday – Friday from approximately 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM. Each day includes 3 – 4 interactive presentations similar to Spring and Fall session options.

Asynchronous PCTI Option:

  • Our upcoming Summer 2021 Asynchronous PCTI option provides an alternative to live synchronous sessions. This session provides participants with access to presentation recordings and interactive activities in the form of (4) weekly online learning modules made available on Canvas. Participants are expected to complete the activities in weekly modules by their due dates.

Optional Day 9 (Update 06/02/2021): The Federation is currently in the process of reinstating its PCTI – Information Center internship program. Interns will have the support of a mentor as they further develop their knowledge and understanding of general special education and health topics to support caregivers, families, and professionals seeking technical assistance. Additional details COMING SOON!.

NOTE: Please note that links to weekly meetings and course materials will be available through Canvas, an online learning platform. Please note that you must have access to a reliable internet connection to participate in any of our remote PCTI options. Click on this link to view a video created by the Notre Dame Office of Digital Learning to see examples of these three remote learning options. We also highly recommend that PCTI attendees have some familiarity with special education procedures (i.e., FCSN Basic Rights Series Workshops: Evaluation and Eligibility, Understanding the Individualized Education Program, Transition Planning (for ages 14-22). A list of free workshops presented by the Federation can be found by clicking on this link.

PCTI often fills quickly and Pre-Registration is required. We recommend registering early.  Preference will be given to youth with disabilities and family members of children with special needs. Registration closes one business day prior to class or when the class roster is full. For waitlist information contact snino@fcsn.org.
