The Parent Training and Information Center at the Federation for Children with Special Needs offers:

  • Information and assistance on special education laws and procedures, community resources, disability information, advocacy groups, and more through our Special Education Call Center for military-connected and civilian families and professionals across MA.  Limited evening hours are available.
  • Additional support for Chinese, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Spanish and Vietnamese speaking families, including technical assistance and emotional support as well as training in special education laws and procedures and related topics.
  • Local workshops in communities across the state that focus on a variety of special education topics for military-connected and civilian families and professionals.  Many workshops are available in Chinese, Haitian Creole, Portuguese, Spanish,  and Vietnamese. Workshops are free of charge to participants.
  • The Parent Consultant Training Institute, an intensive training program focusing on special education laws and procedures for military-connected and civilian families and professionals.

Research shows that students are most successful when schools and families work together, leading to better attendance, test scores, behavior, graduation rates, and post-secondary enrollment.
