SESP volunteers have the legal authority of a parent or legal guardian to attend special education team meetings\, approve or reject IEPs\, and\, if necessary\, file a complaint or appeal. SESPs spend about 30-40 hours a year volunteering their time.\n\nIn this Orientation Training\, you will learn about the role of an SESP\, how traumatic experiences can impact learning\, and how to incorporate the appropriate supports into the IEP.\n\nPlease arrive 5 minutes before the start of the training. It takes place on Saturdays from 9:00 until noon.  Current 2026 dates are: 2/21\, 3/7\, 3/28\, 4/11\, AND 4/25. \n\nPart 1 – Resources for housing;\nPart 2 – Roadmap to housing (part 1): Assessing skills & supports\, and applying for housing;\nPart 3 – Roadmap to housing (part 2): Applying for benefits and services\, building skills\, and moving in;\nPart 4 – Paying for housing: Developing assets\, what you can afford\, housing models\, ownership models\, and financing;\nPart 5 – What does it look like?
