SUMMARY:Upcoming Informational Webinars Sponsored by DESE and The Federation for Children with Special Needs (FSCN)
DESCRIPTION:This Spring\, The Department and The Federation for Children with Special Needs (FCSN) are sponsoring three new virtual webinars on key themes in special education related to our annual State Performance Plan and Annual Performance Report (SPP/APR). \nOn Wednesday\, April 29th the subject will be Educational Environments in Massachusetts: What does it mean for a student to be taught in the least restrictive environment? Why is that so important? And what are we doing about it? Topics covered will include the impact of LRE on student learning\, the data collected on educational environments\, and discussions around improvement strategies to promote learning and success for students with disabilities.  The Federation will provide key questions families can ask to better engage local decision-makers in key discussions about educational opportunities for students. \nIn May and June\, the series continues with two additional webinars\, currently scheduled for Wednesday\, May 27th (Post-School Outcomes for Students with Disabilities) and Wednesday\, June 17th (Educational Outcomes such as Graduation\, Dropouts\, and Dropout Re-engagement). All webinars will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and everyone is welcome. \nFor additional information and a registration link\, please email IDEAdata@mass.gov. \n       \nRegistration for the Series\n\n\n \n \n The Federation for Children with Special Needs is funded by grants which require us to collect data. SUMMARY:Home Care Adult Foster Care Presentation
DESCRIPTION:Home Care AFC/FCSN\nJoin us for a presentation by Home Care Adult Foster Care on May 11th 2026 at 6:30pm \nCaring for a loved one with disabilities or complex needs can be both deeply meaningful and incredibly challenging. This session introduces the Adult Family Care (AFC) program—a MassHealth benefit designed to support families who are already providing care at home. Participants will learn how AFC offers a tax-free stipend for caregivers (up to $18\,000 a year)\, along with ongoing support from a nurse and case manager to help navigate care\, access resources\, and prevent burnout. This presentation will focus on practical\, real-life support—helping families feel less alone\, more empowered\, and better equipped to care for their loved ones while maintaining their own well-being. \n \nJessy Niebla is the Executive Director of Home Care AFC and a trilingual professional (English\, Spanish\, and Portuguese) with over a decade of experience supporting families navigating health and caregiving challenges. Her work is deeply personal. Jessy and her brother were caregivers for their grandmother for over 13 years\, an experience that shaped their understanding of the emotional\, physical\, and financial realities families face every day. That journey inspired them to create Home Care AFC—to ensure other families feel supported\, guided\, and not alone. Jessy is passionate about helping families find real solutions that improve their quality of life—offering not just professional support\, but genuine understanding\, compassion\, and connection.  \nRegister Below
