Funding for Services

Direct Support Youth Stipends

With Direct Support Youth Stipends from FCSN, you choose the best way to use these funds to meet your young adult’s needs.

The Department of Elementary & Secondary Education (DESE) is collaborating with FCSN to provide funding to enable young adults to access transition & social supports in their communities. Families of young people who meet the criteria can receive a Direct Support Youth Stipend to use for services that aren’t covered by other sources of support.

Through this partnership, over $15,000 has been distributed so far to Massachusetts youth with disabilities and their families.

We have funded:

  • horseback riding
  • cooking classes
  • Personal Care Attendants
  • social groups
  • gym membership
  • assistive technology
  • job coach
  • & more!

These are just a few examples. You can choose the services that best meet your young adult’s needs and interests.

Eligible young adults may qualify for extra services from any or all four agencies in addition to receiving a Direct Support Youth Stipend from FCSN.

I was so impressed with how quickly this all came together—an initial email and a couple phone calls and then approval and a check—all in a couple week’s time. We really appreciate how proactive FCSN was in making sure we knew this was a new option available to us.”

You showed compassion, understanding, and a simplified process. I am grateful for this assistance as it provides us with funding help for a critical program that is central to my daughter’s ability to thrive, be happy, & safe.”
