Families are going through unprecedented challenges this year due to COVID 19. The Federation continues to be a beacon of hope and support during these challenging times.
During this crisis, we have reshaped all of our services. We have been presenting daily Facebook Live for up to date information on special education and remote learning, moved all of our workshops online and compiled COVID-19 and Remote Learning resources on our web site. And most importantly, we have continued to pick up the phone and answer your emails.
As families prepare for school in the Fall, we will continue to inform, support and advocate.
Our annual gala is our most important fundraiser. Please support us so we can continue to support families across Massachusetts.
Location: Zoom link will be sent upon registration

The Federation for Children with Special Needs announced that Dianne R. Phillips, a partner in the Boston office of the law firm Holland & Knight LLP, will receive its Founder Award at its annual Gala.
The Federation selected Phillips for her career-long commitment to providing pro bono representation that has benefited children with special needs and others.
In particular was Phillips’s involvement in representing a group of limited English proficient (LEP) parents in a lawsuit that claimed a school system failed to provide adequate translation and interpretation of documents and discussions during meetings, including involving special education services. As a result of this federal court action, the school system has substantially revised its policies and procedures, hired trained interpreters, and trained bilingual staff all to better serve LEP parents.
The Federation for Children with Special Needs announced today that Teresita (Tere) Ramos will receive its Patricia Blake Advocacy Award at it’s Virtual Gala on October 17, 2020.
Ramos is an education, disability and civil rights attorney at Ramos Law LLC in Wellesley.
The Federation selected Ramos for her dedication in representing children with special needs and their families, especially those with limited English language skills. She also has been a long-time member of the Federation’s Board of Directors. Tere Ramos was instrumental in the same law suit that Dianne Phillips was involved in. Together, these two dedicated lawyers helped English Language Learners access the education they deserve.
