SEPAC Summer School
SEPAC Summer School returns for our 7th year!
A free virtual training series will start on Tuesday, June 30th from 7-8 pm and continue each Tuesday for 5 sessions, ending July 28th.
SEPAC Summer School offers valuable information and training for Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) officers, SEPAC members, and other interested parents along with opportunities for networking and discussion.
This year’s theme is Inclusion!

WEEK 1 – June 30 – What is Inclusion
- Definitions – Least Restrictive Environment
- IEP Considerations
- Instructional Strategies
- Benefits of Inclusion
*Advising the district on matters that pertain to the education and safety of students with disabilities
WEEK 2 – July 7 – Inclusion in your School
- Current Practices – Data
- Strategies – Kotter’s Model of Change
- Communication
- Family Engagement
*Meet regularly with school officials to participate in the planning, development and evaluation of programs
WEEK 3 – July 14 – Inclusion in your SEPAC
- Review data on your school community
- Review current by-laws and procedures
- Support leadership skill building
* The parent advisory council shall establish by-laws regarding officers and operational procedures.
WEEK 4 – July 21 – Inclusion in your Community
- Opportunities
- Partnerships
- Build Capacity
*Membership shall be offered to all parents of children with disabilities and other interested parties
WEEK 5 – July 28 – Best Practices and Challenges to Change
- SEPACs as change agents
- Continuous Improvement Cycle
- Celebrate Success
*The parent advisory council shall receive assistance from the school committee without charge, upon reasonable notice, and subject to the availability of staff and resources
