Ingrid Arvidson is a dedicated advocate for equal access to education, particularly for children with special needs. With extensive experience in the field, she currently serves as the statewide manager of the Information Center at the Federation for Children with Special Needs. In this role, she connects families, youth with disabilities, and professionals with essential information and resources. Her aim is to empower and guide users through the complexities of services, programs, and understanding of special education law, practices, and policies.

Ingrid’s journey in education advocacy began as a special education teacher for at-risk youth in Holyoke, MA. Over time, she progressed to the position of Executive Director at the same school, demonstrating her commitment to improving educational opportunities for marginalized students. Additionally, she has contributed significantly to the field through her involvement with organizations like MAAPS, where she served on the board and executive committee, providing valuable trainings to schools across Massachusetts.

Prior to her current role, Ingrid served as an educational consultant for a private consulting firm in Santa Monica, CA, where she continued to leverage her expertise to support schools and educational institutions in better serving students with special needs.

Ingrid’s personal journey as a parent has deeply influenced her advocacy work. Her son, born in 2008 with vision impairments and on the autism spectrum (ASD), has inspired her to advocate tirelessly not only for him but for all families facing similar challenges. Her firsthand experience navigating the complexities of the education system as a parent informs her approach and strengthens her resolve to ensure that every child has access to the support and resources they need to thrive.
