Alysia Krasnow Butler lives in Hopedale MA with her husband Tim and three children: Griffin, Henry, and Leo. She serves as an Academic Advisor at Southern New Hampshire University and has been a member of their ADAPT Employee Resource Group advocating for disabled colleagues since the group’s founding in 2023. She previously worked as a Student Success Coach and a tutor for elementary and high school aged children.
Prior to having her own children, Alysia was appointed in 1998 to the Vermont House of Representatives to fill the seat of her late father. Alysia was a member of the Vermont House Committee on Education from 1998-2000.
Her volunteer work has centered around advocacy for children with disabilities since one of her own children was first diagnosed as autistic. She has been a member of the Hopedale School Committee since 2018 and a member of Hopedale’s SEPAC since 2010. In 2013, with a friend, Alysia opened Massachusetts’ first nonprofit sensory gym (SenseAbility Gym) in Hopedale and remained a volunteer co-owner from 2013 until the nonprofit closed in 2018.
Alysia holds a BA from the University of Vermont and is pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Disability Services in Higher Education from Suffolk University.
