Creating a Culture of Belonging for our Staff
The Federation is one of the largest parent centers in the country, serving tens of thousands of parents and professionals each year. The majority of staff at the Federation are parents of children with disabilities and know firsthand the questions, struggles, and rewards our parents face.
We believe that every child and every family deserve equal access to all aspects of an enriching and meaningful life. We strive to identify and eliminate barriers and disparities that disadvantage children, families, and communities. We also seek to equip professionals and families alike with asset-based mindsets that honor the each individual’s unique knowledge, perspective, and experiences. We promote practices that assure everyone can access resources and learning in the ways that best fit their needs, including the need to feel safe and welcomed.
To support these efforts, we eagerly welcome families who are part of the communities we serve. This includes urging individuals with disabilities and their family members to apply for positions with the Federation. Recognizing the geographic diversity of Massachusetts, we recruit staff members who live around the state.
Providing access to information and support in the languages that families speak is integral to successful involvement and one of our priorities. To this end we employ Outreach Specialists for communities speaking the most common languages in the state: Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Haitian Creole.
We are committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all employees and candidates for employment and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, ethnicity, sex, pregnancy, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, physical or mental disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other legally protected status or designation.
