Basics of Negotiating, Strategies for Working With Your IEP Team to Meet Your Child’s Needs

Presented by Sky Kochenour & Nora Pou, Center for Law and Education

This workshop will introduce parents to the concept of “principled negotiation”. Parents will explore this method of negotiating and how it can help them navigate working with their child’s IEP Team, including through difficult situations where the parent and school disagree about what services the child needs. The goal of the workshop is to provide parents with concrete skills they can take with them to help advance their child’s education.

Connecting Families is our monthly series designed to bring parents, caregivers, and professionals together for learning, support, and real-time connection. Each session features expert presenters, practical strategies, and opportunities to engage with others who share similar experiences. Whether you’re navigating special education, exploring community resources, or looking for guidance and encouragement, we are here to help you feel informed, supported, and connected.

Join us each month as we learn, grow, and strengthen our communities—together.

This registration is for all Connecting Families presentations. You do not need to register for each one separately.
