Myths & Facts About CTE

TRUTH: CTE program graduates have options. They will be qualified to enter college when they graduate, or they can go right into an entry level position in their chosen career field. 

TRUTH: While it’s true that some CTE fields have historically been male-dominated, almost half of Massachusetts CTE students (46%) are female. CTE offers students a valuable opportunity to enter a field they will find rewarding, regardless of gender. CTE encourages individuals to explore diverse career paths and can help create a more inclusive workforce. 

TRUTH: CTE is open to all students, including students with disabilities. Admission to many CTE programs is competitive, but special education and disability accommodations are available in all public schools, including CTE schools and programs. 

TRUTH: CTE is open to all students, including multilingual learners. Some students may be recommended for an English Learner program that is not available in every school, but English Language Learner programs are available in all public schools, including CTE schools and programs.
