Description

Join us for a screening of Imagining the Indian: The Fight Against Native American Mascoting! We will be showing the film virtually on April 25, 5pm-6:30pm followed by a panel of Indigenous leaders and activists on May 2, 5pm-6pm. We will learn about why these mascots are harmful, the impact on Native youth, the work being done to combat these mascots, and what you can do to support these efforts.

All registrants will receive a 24-hour access link to the film on April 25 and a link to the 5/2/24 panel discussion.

Panelists: Melissa Ferretti, Chairwoman of the Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe, Faries Gray, Sagamore of the Massachusett Tribe at Ponkapoag, & Jeannine Hunt, Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe

Facilitated by: Elizabeth “Hummingbird” Bostic, Seaconke Wampanaog Tribe

Content Warning: To demonstrate the harm caused by racist stereotypes of Native American, this film includes examples of disturbing and sometimes violent racial stereotypes from the media which some may find distressing.  This film also contains occasional strong language and shows historical drawings that include partial nudity.
